According to tgdaily.com Windows 7, also known as codename Blackcomb or Vienna, has already been shipped to key partners as a Milestone 1. Tgdaily also say they’ve recieved a roadmap that indicates Windows 7 will be released in the second half of 2009.

Yeah it's pretty fast, but let's wait and see. I doubt it will be ready for sale next year.
I've seen sites that collect signatures and plan on handing them in in order for Microsoft to keep support Windows XP.
So Emma you could be in luck ;)
